Takako Minekawa is undoubtedly one of Japan’s most unconventional artists. After an early career in acting, she began singing in the 1990s. Her album “Roomic Cube” became an icon of Japanese pop music of that era. After a lengthy hiatus, she introduced a new style: using objects such as glass cylinders and tiny audio recorders, she creates fragile, weightless sounds, which she then blends with her voice and a synthesizer into a distinctive performance. In parallel with her solo career, she collaborates with Takahiro Kawaguchi (@qudam) as the duo Ato no Mae. The two improvise with lyrics, keyboard instruments, and homemade object instruments.
