Amos Peled's (b.1997) practice explores the creative repurposing of medical technologies and ideas as a way to investigate the relationship between humans and technology. Peled graduated from the master program of the ArtScience interfaculty at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and Royal Conservatory (KC) The Hague, 2022. Following the studies Peled developed Phantom Limb (2023) in collaboration with iii, a work in which a medical ultrasound machine is used as an audiovisual performative instrument. Phantom Limb premiered in Rewire festival and toured around festivals, exhibitions and events in the Netherlands and across Europe.
Operation Theater (2025) is a multimedia installation where inner organs are detached from the biological system that once defined them, these organs are no longer bound by belonging to an organism and their function as part. Instead, they become an orchestration of movement and sound. Interwoven, they play rhythms, sounds and movements of bodily systems in its absence.
Operation Theater constructs a speculative medical space where the point of focus no longer serves the patients. Through these reconfigurations, the installation shows how introducing simple life-like behaviors into a non-living object creates a strange perception of the boundary between technology and biological systems.
