Sea San is the improvising duo of Hye Young Sin & Sebastian von der Heide. Their drumming unfolds as an exchange between resonance and resistance, Mechanical motion and sonic reflection intertwine with loose and percussive playing. Feedback hums through the snare as motorized objects drift across the metal, wood, and skin of the drum set. Hye Young Sin is Berlin-based artist whose practice flows between visual art, experimental music and performance. Her interest lies in creating dynamics of sound, movement, form, and material that reorient the ways we sense and understand our surroundings. By assembling objects with DIY electronics, she builds settings where things act as instruments and collaborate with humans, revealing the subtle tension between control and autonomy. Sebastian von der Heide is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser, and curator in the field of free and percussive music. Since 2012, he has released solo and collaborative projects on labels such as Stenze Quo, Trii Musik, Sensorisk Verden, Tax Free, and Stroom. Since 2022, he has been running the label and platform iriai verlag and has played at festivals and events such as Intonal Festival, Meakusma, Kaserne - Basel, Kraak, Reihe M and Hanne Darboven Festival.
