Nino Dava is an experimental musician, radio broadcaster, and performer from Tbilisi, Georgia. Drawing inspiration from her classical music training and choral singing in an Orthodox church/folk choir, Dava combines avant-garde electronic soundscapes with the nuances of choral singing, field recordings, synthetic vocals, and spoken word. Her latest performances take the form of heavy drone noise processed from FM radio signals, electromagnetic wave manipulation, and vocal synthesis. By introducing folk scales into the unpredictable sonic turbulence, the performer addresses noise as both a political construct and a tool to extend the listening experience in rather aggressive and strongly self-defensive terms. Nino Dava is a co-founder of “Plazm” - Platform for experimental music, movement and performance in Tbilisi; She’s an author, host and contributor in Mutant Radio Tbilisi with the ongoing spoken word show City Kidz focusing on East European indie communities.
