Meeek / Onii & Anika Beckwermert

Jasmina Al-Qaisi
The compot is a fluid dessert obtained from boiling fresh or dry fruits. The compot is found in Central, East, South, Central Asia and to the Middle East under different forms and everywhere is called almost the same. It is said that this drink-dessert made of sugar and water balances the humidity in the body (Wiki).
In a fictitious time in the place called Compote, a multilingual feminist group organizes an assembly to demystify a legend that prevents the inhabitants of the Compote place from producing the compote drink in a moment of overproduction of sad grapes. The legend that they want to resist says that the secret ingredient for compote drink are the tears, and they can not imagine the compote salted, or their sadness being instrumentalized.

Halmang
by Jane Jin Kaisen /w Jacob Eriksen
Jane Jin Kaisen's most recent work "Halmang" revolves around a group of eight women in their 70s and 80s. It was filmed on the coast of Jeju Island near a lava rock islet that used to serve as a shamanic shrine for the wind goddess Yongdeung Halmang. The women, who have worked and made a living together for most of their lives as Haenyeo sea divers, used to depart together for the sea from this very location. The title Halmang refers to this spiritual aspect as shamanic goddesses in Jeju are referred to as 'halmang' while also being the Jeju term for 'grandmother' and a respectful form of address for a woman. It was also from this area that the film director's grandmother used to depart for the sea as a Haenyeo sea diver during her lifetime. Halmang was produced by Lior Suliman (also known as Dub Mentor) and is comprised of layers of on-site recordings, looped, interleaved and treated to create an immersive sound experience. It also features The Song of the Haenyeos by Gang Gyung Ja and Song of Haenyeo Preservation Association.

Its nostalgic-yet-futuristic content was created by artists Nađa Kračunović, Denise Lee, and sound artist David Bilek.
