Workshop "Even Before Sound" by Arjan Stockhausen
During the workshop Even Before Sound, participants work with the artist Arjan Stockhausen to develop an approach to improvisation even before musical expression. Together they practice perceiving intuitions and impulses and opening a channel to their essence through introspection. Feel invited to participate. Arjan Stockhausen (*1992 in Alfter / Germany) creates cross-media works that include sculpture, painting, sound and spatial installation. He studied at the United World College USA (New Mexico), the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Städelschule Frankfurt. He has exhibited at Johan (Frankfurt) and Gold & Beton (Cologne). He has participated in exhibitions at Kunstpalast, KIT (Düsseldorf), Cité des Arts (Paris), as well as Neuer Aachener - and Dortmunder Kunstverein. For one year he was co-director of the Pure Fiction collective, where readings and plays were improvised. His sound installations have been heard in the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and most recently at the Kölnischer Kunstverein. He has taught improvisation and introspection at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, in the Summer School of the Alanus Hochschule and at the China Art Academy, Hanghzou.
