Concert by Ensemble Modèle Réduit
The Ensemble Modèle Réduit originates directly from ZiXP, the festival for the Leipzig experimental music scene: there, musicians with similar ideas and wishes got to know each other and decided to start working together. The ensemble currently has 12 members, but is not limited to this number and can invite new musicians or perform in smaller constellations.
The ensemble tries to work in a non-hierarchical way, and any member can suggest an idea or lead part of the work. A big part of its identity is its diverse instrumentation: a mixture of acoustic and electro-acoustic instruments, with wind instruments, percussions, singing bowls, voice or electronics. The decision to focus on non-deterministic music comes naturally: we want to play music in which the musician's decision is important and strongly influences the result. We want to establish a dialogue in practice between improvisation and composition and are interested in working with works that set a defined framework in which one can move freely.
