Wutpilger Streifzüge: Chemnitz von hinten
Chemnitz gilt als ostdeutsche Verlierer-Stadt. Wie viele andere ostdeutsche Städte war Chemnitz in der Wendezeit von Deindustrialisierung betroffen und hatte hohe Arbeitslosenzahlen zu verzeichnen. 2018 geriet Chemnitz in die Schlagzeilen, als dort über mehrere Tage hinweg rechtsradikale Großdemonstrationen stattfanden und es teils zu heftigen Ausschreitungen kam. Im Jahr 2025 wird Chemnitz die Kulturhauptstadt Europas sein, wovon sich die Stadt Investitionen erhofft und im Blick der Weltöffentlichkeit stehen wird. Die Sendung widmet sich Aspekten der Chemnitzer Stadtgeschichte, die allgemein weniger bekannt sind. Es geht um Chemnitz als eine Hochburg der Arbeiterbewegung; um Chemnitz im Nationalsozialismus und in der DDR; um Chemnitz in der Wendezeit. Zu hören sind Auszüge aus einer Stadtführung, die der Humangeograph Dominik Intelmann im August 2022 im Rahmen des Kantine-Festivals in Chemnitz gegeben hat.
