For the 3rd time, Seanaps invites open ears to get involved with a risk-taking, cross-genre music programme.
Each night, the main concerts at the Westflügel will present three positions from different generations and different styles. The opening concert emphasizes the proximity of the music to the theatrical performance with extended play equipment such as masks, objects and homemade instruments. It creates a basic frame of mind for the following events that play with the acoustic and atmospheric characteristics of the Westflügel. Various performances can be heard, made of mechanical sound generators or unamplified orchestral instrument, including the human voice or converted everyday devices. The high-contrast range of sound wants to challenge listening habits: it connects radiophonic tracks, abstract noise, concrete sound and partly distant music traditions into a shared intense atmosphere.
On Friday and Saturday, visitors will be caught up by the musical fascination of live electronics and DJ sets. The journey leads you from deconstructed Drone and ruins of Industrial to twisted melodies and percussive rhythms.
In addition to the two main venues, the upper part of the NBL with its bar offers selected DJ sets and and room for exchange and discussions. During the day, the Seanaps Festival is also accompanied by a radio programme in the Villa Plagwitz which is done by festival protagonists and other guests. The radio programme is meant as an addition to the versatile content of the festival, to reflect and to supplement it. Furthermore, workshops invite the participants to explore the connection of musical and political perspectives of the festival. What does the transparency of economic structures have to do with invisible sounds? Seanaps is using the gaps between the art of sound and the living world. It asks for ongoing attention and hopes for resonance.
